Former Barratt director joins Newington

Newington Communications, the fast-growing public and corporate affairs consultancy, is continuing to bolster its corporate affairs team with the appointment of Patrick Law as an associate.

Law, who boasts more than 25 years of experience in supporting companies communicate with senior stakeholders, will provide consultancy services and strategic counsel to Newington’s clients.

He was previously Director of Corporate Affairs at Barratt Developments where he managed the recovery of the company’s reputation after a period of turbulence following the collapse of the housing market. Prior to Barratt, he held a variety of senior roles in the energy sector, including as Director of Communications at British Gas and as Director of Public Affairs at Centrica.

Law read Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford, is a Fellow of the RSA and is an experienced charity trustee across the energy and housing sectors.

Newington has been bolstering its corporate affairs team since the appointment last September of Muniya Barua, the CBI’s former director of corporate communications. It recently appointed Soniya Ganvir, as an associate. Ganvir, who is co-chair of Women in Public Affairs, joined Newington from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) where she was former senior public affairs adviser. Newington is also expanding its corporate affairs services to include investor services and internal communications.

Last year Newington, formerly known as Bellenden, announced a formal partnership with Italy’s largest PR firm, AIM-listed SEC Group, enabling it grow its European foothold.
